Business administration is good. Accounting/Finance is always a useful skill for any business. Marketing if you want to develop a good marketing plan.

Question by tru_belle: Can I deduct a business mortage payment or only the interest and why?
I need to know if I can deduct the mortage payment on a business. Our business mortage is a commercial loan and only the business is on it. Or, is only the interest on the business deductable. If so, would it be in our best interest for the business to rent from us this year?

The business can only deduct interest expense. If you own the property personally, and the loan is in your personal name (OK if business is a co-borrower), then the business could deduct the entire payment as rent expense. However, you’d then have a separate schedule on your tax return for this commercial real estate. You’d show the rent payment as income, and then deduct the interest expense there. If the business is an S-Corp then shouldn’t be much of a difference either way. . .
If you’re a business owner with commercial real estate, you really should have a CPA (or experienced tax accountant) prepare your taxes. . . .
Oh, you can’t deduct the entire loan payment, as principal paid is a repayment of money lent to you!

Question by Olivia: Is a double major in business administration and linguistics a good idea?
I want to double major in business admin/business econ with linguistics, and perhaps get an office job or do international business (linguistics = languages = language is important in business?).
I’m planning to transfer to a 4-year-uni (hopefully UC Berkeley, UCLA, or UC Irvine).
Is this a good idea, or should I just stick with business admin? I want to stand out, since there are a lot of business majors! What are my other alternatives if linguisitics is a bad idea?

That is an excellent idea. You just need to understand that learning a language is time consuming and you will need to find ways to practice it every single day!
I myself speak three different languages and have my MBA. I still havent adventure to work in my domain, as i am working as a Systems Admin.
Having another language is defenitely something impressive and nowadays it is a must if you care to diferentiate yourself from others somewhat. But, one thing that will REALLY help out in the future is to really work in your delivery for anything you work on. In Business you want people to be confident in you and you want them to believe in whatever it is that you are offering them. Work on that, and you will ceraintly work for a better path than most!
*IF I were you, I would really concentrate on the Business end of the education. Language, you can learn that on the side or take 6 months abroad and learn whatever language of interest you have as an exchange student. This way, if you dont have that type of brain, not everyone has it to learn another language, it will not kill your GPA or waste your time. But, going away is something I def. recomment.

Travel and Computing are two of the biggest industries in the world.
I would advise you to take travel and tourism, business and advanced ICT.
A good way to start a business is to get a loan, and gradually pay it back over the years.
However starting a business isn’t easy, 7 in 10 business’s fail in there 1st year.

Here’s a shot of my just printed business cards. Yes, Char is all they said. I figured that since I had to print around 1000, any contact information I put there would get obsolete.
So I decided to just put Char in them (a family nickname) and write down the particular info I want to give an acquaintance when I meet him/her. It may be akward but perhaps also a nice touch.
